Description: Students learn about the Food Guide Pyramid in detail learning a second health benefit of each food group and the nutrients in each group. They discuss a metaphor to help them understand why all Five Food Groups are essential to a healthy diet.

The Balancing Act
Grade Level: Fourth Grade / Upper Elementary

Description: Students learn that 4-2-3-2-6 gives them the right mix of foods from each food group. After reading Act III of The Pyramid Explorations™ Theater, they evaluate the aliens' diets.

Building Body-Building Snacks and Meals
Grade Level: Fourth Grade / Upper Elementary

Description: Students learn that by combining nutritious foods into body-building meals and snacks, they can eat a healthy diet. In Part I, students suggest examples of body-building meals and snacks and evaluate their suggestions. They also learn what foods belong in the "Others" category and why. In Part II, students read The Pyramid Explorations™ Theater, Act IV and plan body-building meals and snacks.

Planning for Success

Description: Students begin by reading the last act of The Pyramid Explorationsª Theater. After discussing the last day of the adventure, they plan one day's meals and snacks for themselves and Roc and a second day for themselves and Marlah. Finally, they evaluate their own diets and identify one thing they can do to eat more healthfully.
